It seems amazing that there are so many sites offering information about gem and stone ‘properties’ and ‘lore’ but there are few offering the stories behind it all! Why is Amethyst supposed to cure drunkenness? What’s the deal with birthstones etc. etc. Ancient mythology is fascinating and as a jewellery designer, I love to know the true lore and history of my materials. People have worn gemstone jewellery for millenia. I’ve decided to tell each of these stories in my own words because that’s how myths work best – as stories told from one person to the other. However, I am not a professional so I hope you enjoy the stories, even if the writing style isn’t always the best…
